Historic Main Street Oxford offers the chance to enjoy the comfortable Spring Saturday mornings with a hosted walk around downtown as you learn a little history.

The free tours, led by Historic Oxford Main Street director Hunter Gentry, provide an opportunity to visit and learn about Oxford’s historic buildings, structures, and sites dating from the 1830s to the 1920s.

The first two walking tours visited the commercial district and homes.

Next on the schedule are churches on April 20 and the Oxford Memorial Gardens Cemetery on April 24. The two-hour walks begin at 9 a.m. each Saturday at Simmons Park.

The tours are part of the Alabama Department of Tourism’s April Walking Tours initiative.
